I`ve learned that no matter how much you care, some people don`t deserve you. I`ve learned that it takes years to build up trust & it only takes suspicion, not proof to destroy it. I`ve thought about not comparing myself to others, they are probably more screwed up than I think. I`ve learned that the people you care about in life are taken away from you too soon & all the less important ones just never go away. To forget somebody isn’t possible. Deep inside, you remember everything. You may not think of them for years at a time but you don’t know how to forget. You can recall the way they smiled when they were happy and the way their faces showed no expression when they couldn’t find their way… the hardest part to deal with, more than schoolwork, school, life and friends, more than, as she put it ‘alternating between not caring and caring and regretting not caring when i care’ was that on top of everything - on top of driving themselves to be smart, pretty, thin and athletic - perhaps the most difficult pressure for high school students was that despite it all, they also have to push themselves to appear happy. No one can promise they’ll never hurt you because at one time or another, it will happen. The real promise is if the time you spend together will be worth the pain in the end.
